Sandi Johnson
Sandi K. Johnson is a poet who also practices short fiction. She was born in Liberia, off the West Coast of Africa. At the age of thirteen, she and her family relocated to the Unites States. She worked at the Milwaukee Courier Newspaper, contributing articles that celebrated African American heritage and culture. Her poem “Little Kate’s Shoes” was published in the Sounds of this House, A Collection of Poetry and Prose from the National Book Foundation 2002-2005 summer writing camps. She received her Masters of Arts in English from St. Mary College in Milwaukee, WI. She became a participant in the 2009 Solstice Summer Writer’s Conference by winning The Solstice Institute for Diverse Voices Prize. Sandi can now be found teaching English courses at Lone Star College in Houston.
