Yasmin Azad was born and raised in Ceylon, (now called Sri Lanka). Since moving to the United States in her twenties she has lived in the Boston area where she worked for many years as a mental health counselor. She is currently writing a memoir, Stay, Daughter, about her growing up in a traditional Muslim community which struggled with the impact of Westernization. “Swimsuit,” adapted from that memoir is her first publication.
