Mary Collins received SolLit’s 2014 Award for Creative Nonfiction; the 2014 American Pen Women’s Soul-Making Keats prize for creative nonfiction; and was a finalist for the 2014 Writers@Work nonfiction prize. Her work has appeared in Talking Writing, and on Brevity Journal’s blog and has twice garnered scholarships to the Norman Mailer Writers Colony. Her essay "The Coverless Book" was also nominated for a Pushcart and for The Best American Essays. Originally from England, she began her writing career converting healthcare research into digestible articles for magazines and journals, none of which permitted any creative expression. She discovered creative nonfiction when she set out to untangle the knots of early memories following the death of her brother. She lives on Cape Cod with her husband and son.
