Welcome From Amy, the New Blog Editor

Hello! You have, for the first time, the tenth, or the hundredth, happened upon SolsticeLitBlog. We are the official blog of Solstice: A Magazine of Diverse Voices. Welcome!

My name is Amy Grier and I’m the Blog Editor. First, thank you for stopping by. We love our readers and truly appreciate your support. Second, are you a writer? Do you have something you’d like to add to what our wonderful contributors have written? Consider writing a guest post for us!

Before sending something, be sure to first check out our guidelines for submitting blog posts. They’re important and will answer most, if not all, of your questions. We have been soliciting writing dealing with hate speech, but any topic is welcome if it fits our guidelines.

About me: I’m a nonfiction writer who began years ago as a poet. My current project is a book-length memoir. I’m also a musician trained in classical piano and voice, a dog-lover, champagne-drinker, and traveler with a soft spot for Star Trek and video games. I’m a few months away from graduating with an MFA in Creative Writing from Lesley University, and I was fortunate enough to find a place at Solstice. The people here are passionate and dedicated to presenting diverse, high-quality fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and photography.

Our mission is to create a space for diverse voices from the U.S. and around the world. You can read more on our “About” page:

We experiment. We publish fine work, of course, from published established writers to emerging writers, whether formal or informal, traditional or experimental. We also publish underserved writers, or writers on the margins.  We publish writers of diverse nationalities, races and religions, and also writers from diverse cultures within our culture.

Diversity is a big word. If you’d like to get a stronger sense of what we mean, take some time to check out this blog, our current issue, and our archives. If you submit something, make it bold, make it real, and make it good.

Welcome, and thank you for visiting.

Amy
