Cynthia Salter is a creative writer, former newspaper reporter, and public health professional, who she teaches Global Health and conducts research on maternal health disparities and birth trauma in Pittsburgh. Her creative writing has appeared in The Owl, Voices from the Attic and Fourth Genre. She currently is working on a memoir about her experiences post-9/11 after her sister Cathy was killed in the World Trade Center. Cynthia’s reporting has appeared in U.S. News & World Report, The Huntington Herald Dispatch, The Phoenix Gazette and The Delaware Gazette. She recently co-authored a commentary on obstetric violence for the academic journal, Violence Against Women.
