Dar Thomas

DAR THOMAS has attended the Slippery Rock study-abroad program in Edinburgh, Scotland, and a residency at Centrum artists’ center in Port Townsend, Washington. Dar’s poetry and op-ed pieces have been published in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, her short stories in various local literary journals. Most recently, her short stories “Lipstick and Other Sins” and “Rachel and the Red-Hot Stompers” won Honorable Mention and First Place in the 2012 and 2013 Westmoreland Arts and Heritage Short Story Contests. Dar lives in Pittsburgh with her artist/teacher husband, their puppy, and thirty-odd orchids—all of whom bloom as they see fit. “Shadow Dancers” is her first publication in Solstice.
