Dave Smith retired in 2013 after teaching literature and poetry at various universities, including
Johns Hopkins University and Louisiana State University. His books include Hawks on Wires:
Poems 2005-2010; Afield: American Writers on Bird Dogs (essays edited with Robert DeMott); and Hunting Men: Reflections on a Life in American Poetry.
