Susan Eisenberg is a poet, visual artist, and oral historian, who works within and across genres. Awards include two Mass Humanities grants, the New England Poetry Club’s Daniel Varoujan Award, and three residencies at Hedgebrook. She is a Resident Artist/Scholar at Brandeis Women’s Studies Research Center. Her most recent book, Perpetual Care (2016, Third Rail), combines installation photographs with poetry to explore chronic illness. Previous collections include Blind Spot, Pioneering, and It’s a Good Thing I’m Not Macho; and, in nonfiction, We’ll Call You If We Need You: Experiences of Women Working Construction, a 1998 New York Times Notable Book. A special 20th anniversary edition of We’ll Call You, with a new preface, and a new poetry book, Stanley’s Girl, will be simultaneously published, April, 2018, by Cornell University Press.
