Poet, teacher, and nurse Theodore Deppe was born in Duluth, Minnesota, and grew up in Bloomington, Indiana. He worked as a registered nurse for many years before becoming a full-time writer and teacher. His poetry collections include the chapbook Necessary Journeys (1988) and the full-length collections Liminal Blue (2017), Orpheus on the Red Line (2009), Cape Clear: New & Selected Poems (2002), The Wanderer King (1996), and Children of the Air (1990).
Deppe has received a Pushcart Prize and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts. A past writer-in-residence at the James Merrill House in Stonington, Connecticut, and at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, Deppe teaches in the University of Southern Maine’s Stonecoast MFA program.
He and his wife, the poet Annie Deppe, have lived in Ireland since 2000.
