The silences yearn and the sun falls.
The first, great dark cleaves
the brown humps of a valley
that reposes. A shattered moon hangs
like a pendant. Here it is decided: the step is stilled,
like a scythe between the dark brushwoods
and where the tawny owl snaps from hunger – between the gutters
of a ruin, we will plant the anchor of the aforesaid life.
On the river, at a distance, the stars twinkle,
like white cauldrons; they are a swarm, the firmament
lowered them gently and now – like flames
they drown rolling along the dull pavement.
Salvation is enclosed in a hand: in the petals
that go to the wind, between the furrows of strawberries,
in the pyres of wood arched like long porcupine
quills. In the abrupt and final butterflies, alone.

He has won the following prizes: Marazza giovani 2013; Sédar Senghor 2017.
Katie Webb worked as executive administrator of the International Authors Forum from 2011 until 2016, building an international network of 70 associations of artists and writers, to defend their interests in copyright. Katie has worked closely with the British writer and activist Maureen Duffy (1933) in the field of authors’ rights. She has also worked on Maureen Duffy’s archive and organised several events with King’s College London on Duffy’s work, publishing a special collection on Strandlines, the digital community run by the Centre for Life-Writing Research at King’s. Katie is International Co-Director of FUIS, the union of writers in Italy.
