Celebrate ten years of Solstice: A Magazine of Diverse Voices with our inaugural print edition. Featuring acclaimed writers such as Richard Blanco, Billy Collins, Gregory Djanikian, Marjan Kamali, and José Skinner, this landmark issue honors a decade of literary excellence and social justice in art.
Marking our tenth anniversary and first-ever print edition, the Fall 2018 Print Issue celebrates a decade of promoting diversity and artistic integrity across boundaries of race, class, gender, religion, nationality, age, and belief. Founded as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Solstice has grown into an award-winning publication with a mission rooted in literary activism and inclusion.
This milestone issue features an extraordinary lineup of voices:
Nonfiction curated by Richard Hoffman, including work by Richard Blanco, Hafez Lakhani, and Mimi Schwartz.
Poetry selected by guest editor and Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Dunn, with poems by Billy Collins, Gregory Djanikian, Carol Frost, Alicia Ostriker, and D. Nurkse.
Fiction curated by Lee Hope, featuring James Anderson, Marjan Kamali, Roland Merullo, and José Skinner.
As Hoffman writes, “I read to rouse myself. I read looking for the voices that will resanctify what has been profaned.” This issue embodies that call—offering literature that awakens empathy and challenges complacency.
With gratitude to our editorial team—including Ben Berman, Dzvinia Orlowsky, and Managing Editor Amy Grier—and to cover photographer Richard Ross for his moving Juvie Talk image, this inaugural print issue exemplifies Solstice’s enduring vision: to tell the stories that matter.
