Carole Vasta Folley

Carole Vasta Folley

A storyteller at heart, Carole’s work navigates the intersection of trauma and hope, where there’s often a blinking yellow light for humor. Her award-winning creative nonfiction has appeared in Hippocampus Magazine, The Plentitudes International Literary Journal, The Bacopa Literary Review, and Women on Writing, among others. As a playwright, Carole’s most recent work, CONTROL TOP—about the impact of gendered clothing on women—was created with support from the Vermont Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. Her long-running column, IN MUSING, has won multiple awards from the New England Newspaper and Press Association and the National Society of Newspaper Columnists, including back-to-back first-place wins in the lifestyle category (2025-2026). When not bargaining with Guilthea (her personal goddess of deadlines), Carole is crafting her memoir, BITTERSWEET ASCENSION, in hybrid forms.
